NCW asks Odisha to recommend CBI probe into doctor's death Bhubaneswar: Unhappy over the probe by Crime Branch of state police into the mysterious death of a lady doctor in Puri in 2012, the National Commission for Women (NCW) on Wednesday suggested Odisha government to recommend a CBI probe into the matter.

"We do not feel the state police is undertaking investigation into the death case involving a lady doctor in right way. Therefore, we suggest Odisha government to recommend a CBI probe into the matter," NCW chairperson Mamata Sharma told an Odia news channel in Delhi.

The NCW chairperson's statement was based on the field visit of Commission member Charu Walikhanna, who visited the state in April. The railway police had recovered the body of lady ayush doctor Madhavilata Pradhan from railway track at Malatipatpur in Puri on October 12, 2012.

While mystery shrouds the death of the lady doctor, police suspect she committed suicide on the railway track. She was transferred from Brahmagiri area of Puri district to Malatipatpur area a few days before her death....more
