Nagpur: Ruling BJP emerges as single largest Nagpur: Though the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to emerge as the single largest party in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), it received a jolt when the party candidate and Mayor Archana Dehankar and her deputy Shekhar Sawarbandhe of the ally Shiv Sena lost the polls.

The election to the 145-member NMC was held on Friday and the counting took place on Saturday. The final figures show that BJP has won 62 of the 145 seats.

The BJP was followed by Congress, and then others, who won 41 and 29 seats respectively.

Raj Thackeray's MNS was able to open its account with two seats while the NCP and the Shiv Sena got just 5 and 6 seats respectively....more
