Delhi: Mob violence leaves 1 dead, many injured

New Delhi: At least one person died and many others injured on Sunday night after a mob set afire a police booth and a bus after alleged reports of a policeman beating up a two-wheeler rider for losing control and riding into a police barricade.

Few shops and vehicles were also damaged, even as the police said the man was in a drunken state and have denied any physical assault.

The mob violence started after a rumour spread that the 'drunk' man died after falling from his two-wheeler during a vehicle checking.

The incident was reported from Mayur Vihar phase-III at around 8 pm. Some persons were injured as police used force to disperse the crowd and bring the situation under control....more
