Canadian paraplegic cyclist tours India Mumbai: Beautiful, strong, brave and paralysed waist-down, Morgan Van Breda, a 32 year old Canadian woman is cycling through India to raise funds and awareness about spinal cord injuries.

At the age of 24, Morgan suffered a T-12 injury, when a soccer post collapsed on her back, shattering her T 11/12 vertebrae. The injury left her paralysed waist down. Doctors declared she will never be able to walk again.

But that was eight years ago. Devastated as she might have been, Morgan was determined to live with dignity. Leaving the disability tag behind, today, Morgan is a professional cyclist, currently touring India with 30 other cyclists and she is the only paraplegic in the group.

Morgan is on a 3,900 km, seven-week journey from Agra to Kanyakumari, on a hand cycle, to raise awareness about spinal cord injuries and funds for her stem cell treatment. ...more
