New Delhi: The nomination of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has sparked a political slugfest with the opposition parties questioning the timing of the move by the government.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena have said that the timing of the nomination suggests that it is aimed at distracting attention from scams.
During a discussion with IBN18 Editor-in-Chief Rajdeep Sardesai, Shiv Sena Rahul Narvekar said, "Sachin deserves this but the timing of his nomination is aimed at distracting people's attention from various scams."
However, the allegation was dismissed by the Congress as party MP Sanjay Nirupam said "Sachin's nomination has nothing to do with politics"....
