Amritsar: Rahul Gandhi's posters removed Amritsar: The Amritsar Municipal Corporation has torn down posters which were put up to welcome Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi. The civic agency said that the posters were removed as they violated the Punjab Prevention of Defacement of Property Act. The Municipal Corporation in the city is held by the BJP and the Mayor, too, also belongs to the national party.

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is on a two-day visit to Punjab during which he is expected to interact with party cadres. He will be interacting with party leaders in Amritsar, Jalandhar and Patiala. This will be his first visit to the state since the party's debacle in the assembly elections.

The Congress leader will also interact with the heads of the four frontal organisations of the party including the Punjab Mahilla Congress, the NSUI, the Punjab Youth Congress. Later, he will address a convention being organised by the Punjab Youth Congress on the Attari border.
