Quota Bill brawl shames Parliament as MPs come to blows New Delhi: In yet another low, the fight over SCs/STs Quota Bill ended in a scuffle between the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Samajwadi party (SP). The MPs feel they did nothing wrong.

The Bill was finally tabled but couldn't be taken up for discussion which comes as no surprise because that is what the government had planned anyway.

But for the SP and the BSP, it is their votebank politics in full display. BSP supremo Mayawati, who has been pushing for this bill, both when she was in power in Uttar Pradesh and now here blamed both the NDA and the UPA.

But for the SP, the SC and ST votes don't mean much and hence their fierce opposition to the bill. The Congress hopes that this delay on the bill would help it to counter the BJP's sharp campaign against the Prime Minister....more

Govt clears Quota Bill, to be brought in Parliament tomorrow New Delhi: The Cabinet on Tuesday cleared reservation in job promotions for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs)in government service, despite opposition from the Samajwadi Party (SP). But the big question remains - with Parliament paralysed over coal blocks will the bill be able to go through the house. The BSP is putting pressure on the BJP to allow Parliament to function so that the Bill can be passed....
