Chandigarh: Keeping in view the safety of working women, companies in Gurgaon have been told to equip their vehicles used for picking and dropping employees with GPS system within a month. An order to this effect was issued by Gurgaon District Magistrate PC Meena on Monday, a Haryana government spokesman said.
The order would be applicable to the BPO sector, call centers and business establishments, he said. "For the order the factor taken into account is that a large number of young women are working in the BPO sector, call centres etc in Gurgaon and their safety and security is paramount," the spokesman said.
"Most of the women are mainly dependent on vehicles engaged to pick and drop (them) by their companies. These vehicles are provided by car rental companies. Since these are not fitted with the GPS system, it becomes very difficult to track their movements and location during emergent situations," the spokesman said.
Keeping in view the safety of working women, directions had been issued to business and corporate sectors and car rental companies to equip all the vehicles (pick and drop) with GPS system within a month, the spokesman said. ...
