New Delhi: He is defiant. He seems to have lost support overnight. And it looks like his time at the The Board Of Control For Cricket In India's (BCCI) top brass is numbered. N Srinivasan, however, maintains that he will not resign from the post of BCCI's President despite the arrest of his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan in IPL betting scandal.
However, sources have said that the BCCI top brass is now talking about a number of options. If Srinivasan persists, stonewalling all the questions of impropriety, BCCI top brass may invoke something from within the constitution to impeach its director.
It is a process called "How to Impeach a Board President". There are 30 working committee members in the various associations - state cricket associations and clubs. Anyone of these members can convene or call for an emergency committee meeting and then someone needs to move the resolution to impeach the president. Then the committee will vote on the resolution and if out of the 30 votes, apart from the president who has a casting vote, they get a two-thirds (20 out of 30) majority, the resolution will be passed that the president has been impeached.
The BCCI constitution says that in a scenario that the president is not able to or not allowed to continue his entire term, the corresponding BCCI vice president from the same zone will be nominated as the interim president. In this case, since Srinivasan represents the South zone, Shivlal Yadav is
