
Chandigarh: In states that have been in the news for discriminating against the girl child, two women have done Punjab and Haryana proud by topping the civil services examination and bagging the first and second positions.
The first position in the civil services exam has gone to Shena Aggarwal of Yamunanagar in Haryana, while the second position has gone to Rukmani Riar of Hoshiarpur in Punjab.
The final results of the CSE 2011 declared by the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) on Friday, May 04, 2012 show that 6 out of the top 25 candidates are female. Shena Aggarwal holds an MBBS degree from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi and has secured the top rank in her third attempt at the civil services examination.
For Shenas parents who live in the Professors Colony in Yamunanagar, a town in Haryana, the good news made it difficult for them to stop smiling.
