New Delhi: The Costa outlet in South Delhi's Green Park is quieter than other cafes. There's comparatively less noise as the people behind the counter can neither speak nor hear. Five years ago, the RJ group began employing such hearing-impaired people at KFC and Costa outlets. Today 145 such employees have made a mark for themselves, thanks to growing corporate social responsibility.
Unnikrishnan Santhosh, the CEO of Costa, says, "The key thing was to take a decision within the organisation.. we tend to call them ordinary people like all of us and I don't think they are ordinary and the output and the initiative and the commitment that they have shown is far far better than the abled people."
The determination to prove they're no different makes them more loyal and enthusiastic.
