Pawar says won't contest polls, but will lead NCP New Delhi: In a major political development, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar on Saturday announced that he would not contest elections any more. Speaking to CNN-IBN, the Union Minister further said, "There is an attempt to create a belief that everyone is corrupt. An attempt is being made to discredit the institutions of this country."

Sharad Pawar and his family are under fire over the alleged allotment of land to a company in which the NCP chief's daughter owned shares. The allotment was made by the government when Pawar's nephew, Ajit Pawar, who recently resigned as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was the state Revenue Minister....more
