New Delhi: In a bid to control the damage after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) patriarch LK Advani resigned from all party posts on Monday, the leadership has prepared a compromise formula. Sources say Advani has shown signs that he is ready for a truce after he was ignored by the party at the Goa national Executive meet where Gujarat Chief Minister Natrendra Modi was made the Central Election Committee chief even though he had signalled that he was against such a move.
Sources say a statement will be read out by either BJP President Rajnath Singh or LK Advani stating clearly that all issues raised by Advani will be looked at very closely. A parliamentary board meet may be called soon to specifically address concerns raised by Advani.
BJP MP and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh have conveyed to Advani that a decision on the party's prime ministerial candidate will not be taken without his consent. The statement is likely to reiterate that Advani is a committed worker of BJP and will remain so.
The party has been plunged into a major crisis much to the comfort of its rivals ever since Advani sent his scathing one-page resignation letter to Rajnath Singh on Monday afternoon. In the ltter Advani said that he was resigning from the three main fora of the party - the National Executive, the Parliamentary Board, and the Election Committee....
