No policeman can act without my orders: UP minister Lucknow: A minister in Uttar Pradesh has brought further embarrassment for the Akhilesh Yadav government. At a time when ministers are touring districts for state's image makeover, UP Textile Minister Shiv Kumar Beria in his remarks said that no policeman can sit down without his permission and they have to take his permission before acting.



"No cop can do anything until I give orders. No cop can even sit till I give orders. I am in government, not in opposition. How can he not listen to me. If a cop does not listen to me, he has no right even for a minute to sit on the chair, he will be sacked within 24 hours," the Minister said on Tuesday.

Not to be left far behind, another UP minister said that no power can stop crimes in Uttar Pradesh. "Crimes in UP keep happening, they happened and will keep happening. No power can stop crimes in UP," Social Welfare Minister Ram Murti Verma said....more

BJP says Maran action simple case of 'bribery' Lucknow: BJP on Thursday dismissed Textiles Minister Dayanidhi Maran's explanation on pay-offs to family-owned Sun TV Network and alleged that it was a simple case of "bribery and quid pro quo" as he gave licenses and allotted spectrum to Aircel in 2007 at 2001 rates. "Dayanidhi Maran's alibi that investment by Maxis company of Malaysia in Sun Direct TV after he ceased to be the Telecom Minister is all humbug....
