Oscar winning director Steven Spielberg has expressed his desire to produce a film based on Kashmir. It is not the first time that Hollywood directors have taken to India for inspiration. Many films have been shot in India and many have their stories set in India. Here is a look at 15 directors and their films that put India on the global map. Oscar-nominated film 'Life of Pi' traces back the childhood of their protagonist Piscine Molitor Patel in India. Ang Lee shot 30 percent of the film in Puducherry. Who can forget this popular scene from the latest Batman series 'The Dark Knight Rises'. Christopher Nolan took to Jodhpur to shoot the nail biting prison sequence in the film.
