
Tirupati: High drama took place at the government maternity hospital, here on Monday, when a woman in her late thirties, staged a dharna claiming that her newborn baby was missing. Later it was revealed that the woman had never been pregnant and had not delivered any baby.
It all started with B Eswaramma, wife of Ramanaiah from Empedu village in Srikalahasti mandal along with her relatives staging a protest outside the hospital, alleging that a nurse in the hospital had taken away her newborn son and demanded the hospital authorities to immediately restore her baby to her.
She claimed that she had conceived after approaching the Ashalatha Test Tube centre in Tirupati and later as per the suggestion of a nurse from the hospital, had gotten herself admitted to the hospital two days ago and had given birth to a male infant in the wee hours of Monday. She said that a nurse had shown her the baby and later taken him away.
Meanwhile, maternity hospital superintendent V Bhavani refuting Eswarammas allegations, said that Eswaramma had not been admitted to hospital, hence there was no question of her delivering a baby there....
