New Delhi: The Vice Chancellor of Guru Granth Sahib World University Dr Jasbeer Singh Ahluwalia was shot at by unidentified assailants on Monday. Ahluwalia was at Fatehgarh Sahib when the assailants opened fire.
He was immediately taken to Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) in Chandigarh.
Sources at PGIMER said that Ahluwalia was unconscious when he was brought to the hospital and had been admitted to the emergency ward, where a team of doctors was attending to him.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had recently inaugurated the University's academic session which began in July. Some radical outfits had been opposed to Ahluwalia's appointment as the VC. He had earlier also served as the Vice Chancellor the Punjabi University at Patiala....more
