Contractor-politician nexus across India: Whistleblower Chief Engineer Water Resources Vijay Pandhare, who blew the lid off the Maharashtra irrigation scam, has said that the nexus between contractors and politicians exists in all states.

In an interview to CNN-IBN, he said that while most were aware of the corruption levels within the state governments, most chose to overlook it out of fear.

'Rs 20,000 cr misused in Maharashtra irrigation projects' Mumbai: Whistleblower in the Maharashtra irrigation scam Vijay Pandhare has claimed unnecessary expenses worth Rs 20,000 crore in state irrigation projects. Pandhare wrote to Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and Governor K Sankaranarayanan in May, 2012 exposing the scam. Vijay Pandhare had claimed at least Rs 35000 crore were siphoned off in 10 years in various projects. Pandhare is a chief engineer in Maharashtra Engineering Research Institute. ...
