New Delhi: A Delhi court will on Wednesday begin hearing charges in a defamation case filed by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit against BJP leader Vijender Gupta.
Sheila had filed a defamation suit when Gupta allegedly called her 'villain' and 'cheat' before the MCD elections in April 2012.
Sheila moved court against Gupta after he refused "publicly apologise" for putting up posters, banners and hoarding across Delhi accusing the Chief Minister and her government of looting thousands of crores of rupees by misrepresenting facts on power tariff in collusion with private companies involved in electricity distribution. Her petition claimed that Gupta's actions were meant to defame her in public.
