New Delhi: An all party meet convened to reach a consensus on the Land Acquisition Bill remained inconclusive on Tuesday with no headway being made at all. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), AIADMK and CPM gave their suggestions, other parties are expected to follow suit by April 15.
After all the suggestions are made, there will be another round of meeting on April 18, by when there is likely to be some consensus. Meanwhile, Parliament will reconvene later in April and the Bill will be taken up then.
"Parties are in agreement. And more suggestion will come in four days. Another meeting will be held on April 18," said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath. The fact the Land Acquisition Bill will not go to the standing committee is a step forward, sources said.
Leader of Opposition Sushma Swaraj said the BJP expressed its concerns during the meet, gave its 12 points and will now await the response....
