Spot-fixing: 2 cricketers knew about Dawood link, say sources

New Delhi: The Delhi Police suspects that underworld don and India's most wanted man Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel are behind spot-fixing in India Premier League matches. Delhi Police sources claim that at least two arrested cricketers were aware that the bookies worked for Dawood.

If the claims are correct then the two arrested cricketer intentionally became a part of underworld. They say that the cricketers were aware that the bookies were working for Dawood and the underworld and despite that knowledge they indulged in spot-fixing. The four cricketers arrested in the spot-foxing case are S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, Ankeet Chavan and Amit Singh.

Except Amit, the other three cricketers were playing in IPL 6. According to the police, Amit became a bookie after he quit playing cricket. Sources say that Amit was aware that he was involved with bookies working for Dawood.

However, Delhi Police has not yet disclosed the names of the two cricketers working for the Dawood syndicate....more
