Surat: Three people have been arrested for allegedly trying to buy a two-month-old infant girl for a sum of Rs 5000 in Surat.
The trio, including a woman, tried to purchase the baby from a couple, who work as labourers.
They claimed the baby would be handed over to Mumbai NGO that cares for under-priviledged babies.
But when the NGO got wind of the scam, they informed the police. A probe is now on to see if this is part of a child trafficking racket....
