Bankura: The doctor accused of raping a hearing impaired girl in Bankura Medical College on Wednesday has been arrested. The accused, Dr Ramkrishna Sarkar, will be produced before a district court on Thursday.
DR Sarkar was arrested at 4 am from the hospital premises. He has been made accused under Indian Penal Code Section 376(2D) in the case. The Medical Superintendent of Bankura Medical College has been asked to go on leave following the incident.
The girl had undergone a medical examination and taken to Kolkata for a second one. The victim's clothes and bed sheets have also been sent for forensic examination. The first medical report of the alleged victim has confirmed she was raped.
A three-member inquiry committee formed by the hospital authorities apart from the police is investigating the allegations....
