Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit faces protest over water scarcity New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Friday faced angry protesters who showed black flags to her over scarcity of water in Kapashera area in South West Delhi. The protesters were supported by BJP MLA from Palam Dharam Deo Solanki who accused Dikshit of not providing water to the people in the area despite repeated plea. The Chief Minister accompanied by Revenue Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely had gone to the area to inaugurate a renovated office of sub registrar where people will be able to get their properties registered on the same day of filing of application through online transaction.

BJP MLA from Bijwasan also joined the protesters later and criticised the Delhi Government for "failing" to provide water to residents of Palam and Bijwasan during the last 15 years despite many assurances. "I had written around 16,000 letters to the Chief Minister and the Government seeking water but to no avail,"

said Rana. In the budget session of Delhi Assembly earlier in April 2013, Solanki had rushed to the Speaker to tender his resignation protesting non-availability of water in Palam but his party colleagues had prevented him from doing so.

Speaking at the function, the Chief Minister attacked the BJP for "opposing" people-friendly initiatives of her government. "Their criticism is baseless and imaginary. The residents of Delhi are well aware about their disruptive intentions and they would give a befitting reply in time to come," she said, cautioning BJP not to "politicise" developmental issues.
