India, China call for an end to border issues, sign 8 agreements New Delhi: India and China on Monday signed eight agreements during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to India. Premier Li held talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and issues along the Indo-China border were also discussed.

Addressing a joint press conference with Premier Li, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the two sides agreed to maintaining stability and prosperity in the border region. "We have had candid discussions since Sunday night. We are delighted that there are so many areas of convergence and meeting of minds. We agreed that our ties are of significance for our peaceful development, stability in the region and prosperity," Manmohan Singh said.

Manmohan Singh said despite differences in the past, India and China share a mutually beneficial relationship. "We have had our differences in more recent times but have built a mutually beneficial relationship. The basis for continued growth is peace on our borders. While seeking early resolution of border, peace must be preserved," the Prime Minister said.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also called for the two countries to work together for world peace. "We do not deny there are problems between the two sides. Both believe that with regard to the boundary, both have kept peace in the border areas. We are friendly neighbours and will do nothing that will damage the interest of the other side. Without common development of India and China, Asia will not become strong and the world will not be a better place," Premier li
