Bangalore: 90-year-old man kept in chains by son for 7 months

Bangalore: A 90-year-old man, found chained in the terrace of his Banashankari house in Bangalore, was rescued by police on Wednesday. Ananth Kumar Shetty was allegedly chained by his son in a makeshift shelter on the terrace of the house seven months ago. The son has claimed that he kept Shetty in chains because he was "unhygenic".

While no arrests have been yet made in the case, the police are waiting to record the statement of the 90-year-old. He is being treated at a government hospital in Bangalore.

This comes a day after a 35-year-old woman, who was allegedly imprisoned by her parents for five years in a small room at their residence, was rescued by the police on Tuesday.

The woman was rescued by the police after she screamed for help all night on Monday. Her parents, however, have claimed that she was bed-ridden after a paralysis attack five years ago. ...more
