New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday questioned former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi in connection with an alleged illegal contract worth Rs 71 crore. The contract under scrutiny was awarded to a firm called Event Knowledge Service.
Sources say the Mauritius based company was given three different contracts during the 2010 Common Wealth Games. Kalmadi and former Organising Committee treasurer Jaya Chandran have been accused of signing forged documents that authorised the deal.
The contract was signed without the approval of the Group of Ministers. The records show that the EKS agreements were made in 2006, while the GoM was informed about the same much later.
