Kerala: Chandy-Chennithala rift a cause of worry for Cong Thiruvananthapuram: As the Congress led-UDF government completes three years in Kerala, there are more reasons to worry than cheer. The simmering rivalry between Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and state Congress President Ramesh Chennithala has now become an open conflict.

An interview given to the New Indian Express has now openly pitted Chennithala against Chandy. A key bone of contention has been Chandy's failure to induct Chennithala into the Cabinet.

After the Chandy's hugely successful Kerala Yatra, Chennithala loyalists are now openly alleging they were betrayed. "We conveyed to the Chief Minister and he has promised he is ready to accept Ramesh Chennithala and he is ready to induct him into the Cabinet. No more details have been discussed. After the Kerala Yatra, we were supposed to discuss it. They discussed it but don't know what happened later," said MM Hassan, senior Congress leader.

Until now Ramesh Chennithala and Oommen Chandy have denied any rifts between them. "I have not given any such interview to anyone. There is no such issue between me and the Chief Minister," Chennithala said....more
