A 38-year-old medical representative in Ranchi in Jharkhand was beaten to death on January 1 by a group of drunk men as he tried to prevent them from attacking a woman. The victim, Srikant Bhardwaj, reportedly made calls to the police but as when they reached the assailants had already fled after beating up Bhardwaj and his three friends.
