Spot-fixing: Turf war between Mumbai, Delhi police?

New Delhi: Ever since the IPL spot-fixing scandal was busted almost a week ago there has been a competition between the Delhi Police and its Mumbai counterpart to take credit for the same. Delhi Police officials say that they have not sought bookie Ramesh Vyas's remand. Vyas has been arrested by Mumbai Police in connection with the IPL spot-fixing cases.

Officials say that there is no need to take Ramesh Vyas on remand or to question him as the spot-fixing accused have named several bookies like Vyas.

Delhi Police says it is not investigating those placing bets, but those who are involved in spot-fixing with the help of bookies. Police officials say that if they were to act against those involved in betting, then they would have to arrest several lakh people in Delhi alone.

Regarding S Sreesanth's laptop which was recovered from a Mumbai hotel, police officials say that if the need arises they would officially ask Mumbai Police to hand over the laptop to them. But right now examining the laptop is not important for them, said Delhi Police officials....more
