BJP will flag the demand for PM's resignation, says Arun Jaitley New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata will continue to demand the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh over the coal scam controversy. Speaking to Karan Thapar on this week's Devil's Advocate, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley has said the exit of Ashwani Kumar in the matter was not enough and that his party will flag the demand for the Prime Minister's resignation. Following is an excerpt from the interview:

Karan Thapar: The BJP has demanded the Prime Minister's resignation. There is clearly no sign of that happening. How far do you plan to pursue that?

Arun Jaitley: Well I think we want to flag this issue. And we want to flag it seriously. Today you have had a massive cover-up exercise because of which the Law Minister has had to resign. Because of that cover-up exercise you had the Supreme Court giving serious comments and strictures on this particular issue. Why was this cover-up exercise taking place? Was the Prime Minister's Office so seriously concerned that some officer in the Coal Ministry is going to be indicted as a result?

Karan Thapar: Or were they worried that the finger would go all the way to the top?...more
