Thirteen-year-old Amit has been learning to write again, this time, with his left hand. Eleven months ago he lost his right arm while working at a cotton ginning factory.

On hidden camera, CNN-IBN has shown how children are used as cheap labour in Gujarat's cotton ginning factories. Operating hazardous machines in a polluted environment, overworked and poorly fed, some children play with their lives.

Inhaling cotton dust and cotton particles all day, the children also risk brown lung disease, chronic asthma and even death due to respiratory failure. The big question is as to why the authorities are doing nothing to stop this well-oiled child labour racket?...more
