Bangalore: Meeting the high public expectations, that too in a short 11-month tenure, is a big challenge before new Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar. At his first felicitation programme after he became the CM at Palace Grounds here on Thursday, Shettar made it clear to his supporters that his tenure was short and he would not want to waste time in getting felicitated.
The urgent need to address the prevailing drought situation was also seem to be one of the factor for this. We have a lot of work to do. There are high expectations and we have to fulfill them. Moreover, it doesnt look good to attend felicitation programmes when the state is facing drought situation, Shettar said on Thursday.
While stating that tackling drought is his immediate priority, Shettar also said that his government will also strive to make Karnataka the number one state in the country. He said the development works and welfare measures initiated by his predecessors will continue.
