Shashi Kapoor met Jennifer Kendal in 1956 in Calcutta while working for their respective theatre groups. Shashi Kapoor was a stage manager with Prithvi Theatre, while Jennifer was a part of her father Geoffery Kendal's Shakespearana group.

Soon after their first meeting, Shashi Kapoor started to tour with the Shakespearana group.

The film revolves around Manju (Rekha) whose sister gets married.

In 'Sholay', Jay (Amitabh Bachchan) takes Veeru (Dharmendra) marriage proposal to Mausiji's place and tells her that Veeru has a few wrong habits but he is a man with a golden heart. It is one of the funniest scenes of the film.

In 'Chupke Chupke', vivacious Sulekha (Sharmila Tagore) falls in love with Botany Professor Parimal Tripathi. Ramu Kaka takes the marriage proposal to Sulekha's house and calls Parimal 'Ghaas Phoos Ka Doctor'.

Popular for her performance in 'Samadhi', Nalini Jayawant was a prominent face in Bollywood films from early 40s to late 60s.
