
Pune: German Bakery, the Pune-based eatery that was ripped apart a powerful blast, has been reopend on Sunday after three years-three months of the incident. This comes a month after the Pune Sessions Court convicted and sentenced prime perpetrator Himayat Baig to death for his role in the blast on February 13, 2010.
The rebuilt bakery has at least 16 CCTV cameras and metal detectors to ensure tight security. Renovated at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 crore, the eatery was thrown open to customers on Saturday evening by a new management, whose earlier plan to reopen it on February 13 was deferred due to a technical issue as Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) insisted on submission of a structural audit report.
