London: New Zealand opener Hamish Rutherford thrived in the chilly conditions of Leicester, hitting a century for a confidence boost ahead of next week's first Test against England at Lord's.
Rutherford ended the first day of the tour game against England Lions at Grace Road unbeaten on 116 as New Zealand reached 184 for three on a day curtailed by rain to just 44 overs. It was an innings which contained 16 fours and four sixes and followed on from his double century against England in Dunedin in February on his Test debut.
"It was fresh out there today," admitted Rutherford of the chilly Leicester weather.
