
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday gave a green signal to POSCO to continue with iron ore mining in Odisha. The court quashed Odisha High Court's order, which had set aside the state government's petition to allot iron ore licence to POSCO in the Kandahar hills.
The state government had granted a licence to POSCO in 2009, which had been set aside by the High Court in 2010.
The Kandahar mines are estimated to have 600 million tonne high grade iron ore deposits.
