Bollywood delves into honour kiling

Honour killing has been an age old practice in India since centuries. In spite of being in the 21st century certain parts of India still practices this heinous killing in the name of honour. Everyday dozens of cases get registered while so many get covered up. From film perspective, many filmmakers have attempted to depict these practices through their films but very few have been successful. The horror of the entire act often gets hidden in trying to make it acceptable to the audience. Here's a look at a few films that show a glimpse and more on honour killing. By Letty Mariam Abraham

The film tells the story that has often been seen in newspapers and reported on television and internet several times. More than a killing its a massacre where members of a family or social group gather together to play god and decide the fate of individuals who go outside the so called norm and love or marry. 'Khap' revolves around a sensitive topic and this Friday as it releases we'd know if it managed to create an impact or not.

The film revolves around a lower caste boy who falls in love with a rich and powerful villager's daughter. He tries to elope with her with the help of two friends but gets caught. Three months go by with no clue of the boys. An investigation by the CBI unravels the story of brutal murders in the name of honour committed by the law binders of the society.
