CBI court summons Yeddyurappa in graft case Bangalore: Spelling more trouble for former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, the CBI on Wednesday ordered issue of summons to him, three of his family members and others in the illegal mining kickback case being probed by it.

CBI court judge Venkata Sundarshan, who ordered issue of summons on November 16, directed all of them to be present in court on December 12. On October 16, CBI had filed a charge sheet before the special court against Yeddyurappa, his sons B Y Vijayendra and BY Raghavendra, son-in-law RN Sohan Kumar, former minister Krishnaiah Setty, the CEO & Senior Vice-President of a Bellary-based private steel company, a Shimoga-based Trust and five Bellary-based private companies for alleged abuse of official position and corruption.

They were charged under IPC sections, including 120-B (conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) as also under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 and Karnataka Land (Restriction on) Transfer Act.

Yeddyurappa resigned as Chief Minister in July 2011 after the Lokatyuka report on illegal mining accused him of bribery following which a spate of corruption and land denotification cases have been filed against him....more
