Kolkata: Renowned German heritage conservationists will visit Kolkata this November to help draw conservation plans for four of the city's iconic landmarks. Touring the city for two days on Nov 28 and 29, a group of 10 German experts, including the director of Museum of Asian Art, Berlin, will visit Victoria Memorial, National Library, Indian Museum and the Asiatic Society.
"The four buildings have a lot of archival works, so they are important from the conservation point of view," said Sharmistha Sarker, spokesperson of the Goethe-Institut Kolkata Max Mueller Bhavan, which has invited the German team. The visit, organised as part of the capacity building initiative by the Goethe-Institut, will see the experts provide solutions at a brainstorming session with the local conservationists, at the conclusion of the visit.
"There will be a brainstorming session where the experts will discuss what can be done and how they can help," said Sarker. The conservationists are also expected to visit Delhi and Mumbai as part of their India tour.
