J&K: Like Omar, Farooq too surrenders extra LPG connections Srinagar: Following the footsteps of his son and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Minister Farooq Abdullah has also surrendered his two LPG connections. This after IBNLive had reported how amid a massive crisis of LPG cylinders in the Kashmir Valley, the Chief Minister was enjoying the luxury of three connections.

Farooq and Omar Abdullah surrendered their two extra LPG connections each on Saturday. Like his son Omar, Farooq Abdullah was also enjoying three connections under his name in Srinagar.

The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister on Saturday had tweeted that he has surrendered two LPG connections. "As promised two of the three LPG connections surrendered this morning," Omar Twitted in response to IBNLive report. Oil marketing companies claim that the one connection per household guideline is being implemented stringently.

Jammu and Kashmir is currently struggling with a massive LPG shortage and has seen many protests through out the state over past couple of months. Locals allege that a nexus between gas dealers and agents operating in the market are taking consumers for a ride by asking them to pay more than Rs 1,500 for transfer or verification of documents. ...more
