Hollywood Friday: Matthew McConaughey's 'Mud' is all set to cast its spell

This Friday will see Jeff Nichols's most awaited film 'Mud' hitting the theaters starring 'Matthew McConaughey' in the lead role.

Apart from Matthew McConaughey the film will star Tye Sheridan, Jacob Lofland, and Reese Witherspoon in very prominent roles.

Jeff wrote and directed 'Mud', which was fully financed by the Everest Entertainment and produced by both Everest and Film Nation Entertainment.

After being put into bat, New Zealand openers Peter Fulton (L) and Hamish Rutherford (R) put on a solid 79-run stand for the opening wicket against England.

One over before lunch, Steven Finn got rid of Hamish Rutherford for 37 as the opener edged a widish delivery to first slip.

Peter Fulton reached his third Test fifty off 109 balls just after lunch to put New Zealand in a solid position.

Starting day three at 66 for 3, New Zealand lost their overnight batsmen - Kane Williamson (in picture) and Dean Brownlie in under seven overs into the day. Stuart Broad picked up Williamson's wicket for 42.

Going into lunch on day three, Brendon McCullum scored a gritty fifty as he, along with BJ Watling, compiled an 80-run stand for the 6th wicket putting up a stern resistance.

Steven Finn took the wicket of Brendon McCullum to end a very stubborn 100-run stand between McCullum and Watling.

New Zealand were off to a perfect start as Trent Boult picked up the wicket of centurion Jonathan Trott in the second over of the day as he prodded forward to an away going delivery edging the ball to wicketkeeper BJ Watling. Trott scored 121 off 235 balls.

Spinner Bruce Martin got into the act removing Ian Bell and Joe Root in quick succession just before lunch to peg back the England charge.

Kevin Pietersen was not at his fluent best but scored a patient fifty of 112 balls and went on to make 73 runs before Bruce Martin dismissed him in the 126th over. KP and Matt Prior compiled a 41-run stand in quick time.

Hollywood Friday: Joaquin Phoenix returns with 'The Master' for the Indian audience

The American drama written, directed, and co-produced by Paul Thomas Anderson stars Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams in the lead roles.

The film which is releasing in India tomorrow received three Academy Award nominations for the Best Actor for Phoenix, Best Supporting Actor for Hoffman, and the Best Supporting Actress for Adams.

The film revolves around the story of Freddie Quell (Phoenix), a World War II veteran struggling to adjust in a post-war society who meets Lancaster Dodd (Hoffman), a leader of a religious movement known as 'The Cause' who sees something in Quell and accepts him into the movement.

England lost Alastair Cook early after being put into bat, but Ian Bell scored 68 and in partnership with Jonathan Trott steady the ship early on.

After a very sluggish start Jonathan Trott got going and scored 68 before getting out and compiled a 89-run stand with Joe Root.

Joe Root came in and upped the ante with a breezy 64-ball 56 compiling an 89-run stand with Trott.

Angelina Jolie at the Oscars: The leg that peeked out of the high thigh-high slit of her Versace gown was the most exciting appearance on the red carpet. The gown fit perfectly into the sleek, simple, sexy mold that Jolie favors, but it was Jolie's picture-perfect pose to expose just enough thigh that launched a thousand memes.

Michelle Obama and Ann Romney's matching hues: The wives of the presidential candidates turned out to the second debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in practically the same shade of hot pink. But they weren't by the same designer: Romney's was by Oscar de la Renta, and Obama's by Michael Kors. A potential matching prom dress-style embarrassment was chalked up to timing: October's breast cancer awareness month.

Marc Jacobs' Louis Vuitton show: Many of the designer runways seemed more of the same - stark stages, thumping music and audiences distracted by their electronic gadgets - but the Louis Vuitton fall catwalk in Paris commanded attention. Models dressed in their very best traveling clothes stepped off a reconstructed retro steam train. Valets carried the vintage-inspired hat boxes and vanity cases. The trip seemed refreshingly refined and modern.
