
Sangareddy: A rape victim who was in a state of mental depression committed suicide on Sunday afternoon at the Kohir mandal headquarters in Medak district. According to Zaheerabad Circle Inspector of Police Pulimamidi Sridhar Reddy, the 18-year-old girl who was raped by a 36-year-old driver called Shekhar in the wee hours of April 20 near Zaheerabad railway station, committed suicide at her village.
She was discharged from hospital at about 2 pm and handed over to her brother, who took her back home. After they reached home, her brother left home for some work.
Later, the rape victim told her mother that she is going to answer nature's call and went outside. When she did not return for a long time, her mother began searching for her, only to find her body in a nearby dried up well.
They informed the police, after which they reached the spot and took her dead body out of the well. Reasons for her death has not yet been established, but it is assumed that she might have jumped into dried up well out of dejection, depression and humiliation....
