Kannur: Defence Minister AK Antony on Friday expressed confidence that leaders of the Congress' Kerala unit would themselves resolve any issue facing them. "You (the media) think that there are issues that cannot be resolved in the state unit of the party. I know my colleagues here for several decades and at the appropriate time all will cooperate. My feeling is that the issues can be resolved here itself," Antony told reporters in Kannur.
The defence minister was in the northern district of Kannur to take part in a party function and top leaders belonging to the factions of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and state unit chief Ramesh Chennithala held discussions with him.
For a week now, sections of media have been claiming difference of opinion between Chandy and Chennithala, and whether Chennithala will be given the post of deputy chief minister with the plum home portfolio.
"Both Chandy and Chennithala in the past have resolved issues between them, without a whimper, and in case they are unable to resolve the issues, the Congress is not a state party and it has other ways also. But I feel it can be solved here itself," added Antony. ...
