16 per cent increase in Delhi Metro ridership in 2012-13 New Delhi: The Delhi Metro has registered an increase of about 16 per cent in ridership in 2012-13 in comparison to the last financial year. Addressing the gathering at DMRC's 19th Foundation Day celebrations, its Managing Director Mangu Singh said apart from increase in ridership, the overall earnings of the organisation had also increased by 15.77 per cent during the same period.



Sudhir Krishna, DMRC Chairman and Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development presented annual awards to 48 employees for their contribution to the organisation. In his address, Krishna said that the organisation has set new benchmarks in both its construction and operation related activities. Singh informed that many more steps were being taken for the greater convenience of the commuters such as the introduction of more eight coach trains.
