We took all measures to save Sanaullah Haq: Govt New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday expressed grief over the death of Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Haq in a Chandigarh hospital. Sanaullah dies on Thursday morning, a week after he was attacked in a Jammu jail by a fellow inmate.

Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said, "We tried to take all necessary measures to save Sanaullah. In touch with the Pakistan authorities. Will make all arrangements to facilitate handing over the body. Waiting for the details of the flight which will come from Pakistan."

Pakistan High Commission Spokesperson Manzoor Memon requested India to make arrangements to send Sanaullah's body back to his country immediately. "We are in deep grief and shock. My deep condolence to the family of Sunaullah. We have requested the government of India for an international enquiry into the attack on the Pakistani citizen," Memon said while speaking to CNN-IBN.

A resident of Sialkot in Pakistan, the 59-year-old prisoner was serving a life term after he was convicted under TADA provisions following his arrest in 1999....more
