Pune Warriors India succumbed to another home defeat with a 37-run loss at the hands of Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday and their star legspinner Rahul Sharma reckoned that the home team gave away 20 runs too many on a batting track at Pune.
After starting off well with two early wickets, Pune failed to finish strong conceding 62 runs in the last five overs courtesy MS Dhoni's 16-ball 45 which fetched him the man-of-the match award.
Sharma, who opened the bowling for the struggling Pune Warriors in the match said as quoted by iplt20.com: "We wanted to restrict them to as less as possible like 140 or 150 but then according to me we gave about 20 runs more. Since we have a good batting wicket the plan was not to give the batsmen too much room because they do have a lot of hard-hitters lower down like MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Albie Morkel".
Pune, who have only managed to win two out of their ten games have struggled with their batting throughout the campaign and their bowling at the death has also been haywire for the last four games. "We have been bowling well, in the last two-three overs, but in the death things are going a bit wrong since the last three-four games. And the batting is not clicking. The wicket was good for batting on Tuesday and we got a decent start but the loss of three-four quick wickets pulled us back,"
