Army to issue retirement note to Gen Singh New Delhi: The Army will issue the retirement note about his tenure ending on May 31, 2012 to General VK Singh next week. The Army has decided to send the notice after the Army Chief withdrew his petition over the age controversy from the Supreme Court.

With an official communication to the Army Chief about his retirement, the Defence Ministry will announce his successor soon.

The Defence Ministry has shortlisted three senior most officers - Eastern Army Commander Lieutenant General Bikram Singh, Army Vice Chief Lieutenant General Shri Krishna Singh and Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General KT Parnaik for the top post.

General Singh, who is slated to return from his UK trip on February 20, will be given the Retirement Warning Letter (RWL) by the Military Secretary branch in the next few days, official sources said on Friday....more
