As Indian cinema celebrates 100 years this year, we explore the magic of moving images from film industries across India in our tribute to the 100 best films of all time. The films from Kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Bengali and Marathi industries among others reflect the passion, struggle and the genius of their makers in creating a cohesive history of a century of fascinating themes. This is only a qualitative list. We wish we could include the hundreds of films that deserved to be here and were left out due to space constraint. We thank our contributors in the last slide.Naya Daur (1957): Directed by BR Chopra, the Hindi film featured Dilip Kumar, Vyjayanthimala, Ajit and Jeevan in pivotal roles. The film showed how the traditional Indian society was getting influenced by rapid industrialisation. The film culminates when a horse cart wins a race against a bus.Deewar (1975): Yash Chopra weaved a tale of two ideologically opposite brothers Vijay (Amitabh Bachchan) and Ravi (Shashi Kapoor) in such a way that the society indulged in a debate about corruption and honesty. 10 Bollywood films Ram Gopal Varma should avoid to make

Ram Gopal Varma is known for making thriller and gangster films. But with time the director is finding it hard to prove his mettle. Take a look at 10 Bollywood films or their genres that we wouldn't want the director to make. The mushy romance of Raj and Simran on a train has made many hearts skip a beat. With romantic songs, the picturesque beauty and heart warming dialogues, ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ has been one of the most romantic films of all time. And, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma might just add some shaky camera movement to spoil the emotion of love. And, keeping a track of his recent films, he should really stay away from making romantic films. Ram Gopal Varma has been often seen taking on the horror and thriller genre when it comes to filmmaking. Imagine the filmmaker getting into the shoes of Hrishikesh Mukherjee or Gulzar and deliver an unforgettable comedy film. Well, if Ramu would get to make 1982 film 'Angoor' then it would unarguably become a comedy of errors.Ram Gopal Varma proved everyone right when he decided to make a remake of the 1975 classic 'Sholay'. 'Aag' turned out to be a disaster and the director should take a lesson from his past mistake and avoid picking up any other classic film like 'Mughal-E-Azam' for a remake.
