
New Delhi: Despite the cesspool of a scam, the routine on the grounds of IPL 6 match venues hasn't changed in the least. The presenters have been just as bombastic, the cheergirls have been performing with just as much gusto, the song and dance routine remains just as much cheerful.
However, the most striking aspect has been the silence among India's premier commentators. None of them has been allowed to voice his views on the storm that threatens to tear Indian cricket apart. It is almost an alternative universe.
It is well-known that former Indian captains Sunil Gavsakar and Ravi Shastri are contracted directly by the BCCI on a huge annual fee. Both are yet to speak on the allegations confronting the BCCI president although, they have expressed their anguish on spot-fixing allegations on other platforms.
Speaking to a news channel, Gavaskar said, "Yes, sometimes things happen and I shake my head and convince myself that it is due to a genuine cricketing reason. This is happening a little more in the last few days." And in a newspaper column, Shastri wrote on Friday, "Only good will emerge out of this cleansing process. Let the guilty be punished.
